Travel Tip: Hottest Spring Break Destination is Dundee, Iowa

IOWA — It’s that time of year when all of your friends are heading off to some exotic destination in search of a break from midterms and, of course, a solid selection of photos for Instagram. But for some of us, a jaunt down to Cancun would be breaking the bank, so the Ax had taken the time to find a more affordable exotic destination, and boy did we find one!

Dundee, Iowa has everything you could want in a spring break trip:

  • It’s cheap to get there! Board the next Greyhound from Union Station on the “Iowa and Furthur” line (don’t worry that’s not a typo) that leaves every day at 4:18PM. For only $75 you get a seat and, well, that’s all you get. Enjoy the 22-hour journey by catching up on your reading list, and watch out for the occasional bus cannibal! Once you cross the Iowa border, disembark and you’ll find a kind older gentlemen who’ll drive you to Dundee.

  • You’ll make 170 new friends since that’s the entire population of the town. They love visitors, and the whole town goes bowling every Friday night at the “Lovely Lanes” complete with $2 Bud lights. Contain your excitement!

  • Corn fields make for great Insta posts since who else can say they stood next to a maize silo over 150 years old?

  • Experience a cosmopolitan lifestyle by driving only 90 minutes to the bustling metropolis of Cedar Rapids!
