Smithsonian Accidentally Loses African American History Museum

WASHINGTON — Passersby were stunned this week as they walked down the National Mall and discovered the newly completed Museum of African American History Museum and Culture had disappeared.

The Smithsonian issued a statement claiming they had no idea where the giant building was or what happened to it, and would be devoting all of their resources to finding the missing museum.

Despite how difficult it is to accidentally lose a building, the Smithsonian is one of the top consortiums of museums in the country, and they’ve managed to pull it off brilliantly. A spokesman for the organization declined to comment, and frankly we didn’t expect anything less. This has got to be pretty tough on them after they’ve spent millions building the thing.

Though the causes of the disappearance remain unknown, some passerby have their suspicions. We overheard one girl talking to a friend, saying it may have just gotten up and walked away. That would be an impressive feat of engineering, no doubt, but hardly practical in this economy.

The grounds where the museum used to be were surprisingly well-kept considering there used to be a building on top of them, and there isn’t even a crater on the site like we expected. It’s almost like we just hallucinated the giant construction site that’s been there for the past two years, and the newly completed building.
