This December 25th, Americans Celebrate 25 Years of Triumph Over Communism

WASHINGTON - Americans everywhere may sleep soundly tonight, knowing that they will wake on the morning of December 25 in a sense of total bliss, having collectively remembered the collapse of the Soviet Union on that day in 1991.

“I love nothing more than to wake up my children on the morning of Dec. 25 and lecture them on how American technological and economic superiority ultimately led to the defeat of an authoritarian superpower through the power of militarization and proxy wars,” said professor of American Studies Jeb Gunderson. “Even now, remembering Gorbachev’s resignation brings a little tear to my eye.”

Son of the President-Elect, Barron J. Trump led the festivities of the Annual Lighting of the Lenin Effigy on the National Mall on the evening of Sunday, Dec. 18.

Closer to home, the GW Chapter of the Young Americans Foundation are gearing up for the anniversary with five nights of caroling, featuring such favorites as “Hail Thee, O Reagan of Ours” among others, a treat which students staying for the break are sure to enjoy. Celebrations are set to culminate on December 25 with the hallowed retelling of "A Christmas Miracle in Moscow", a charming account of the unlikely friendship between Ded Moroz and the 40th US President and their quest to bring democracy to every child in Russia 13 days ahead of Orthodox Christmas.
