Student Who Claims “Trump Is Not My President,” Apparently Just Hungarian

WASHINGTON — With what may well have been one of the most controversial elections in modern United States history now decided, it is little surprise that contention has now sprung up around the results. Protests, riots, and fights have broken out in many American cities, including the Capital, as people from around the country voice bitter objections to the victory of President-elect, Donald J. Trump.

In keeping with the spirit of the election season itself, the language of those reacting to the voting results has been severe, but perhaps no voice has been so telling as that of Gyorgy Kovács, a junior in the George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health.

When faced with the question, “how do you feel about the fact that Donald Trump will be your president for the next four years?” Kovács’ made his thoughts clear and known.

“Donald Trump is not my president,” he told reporters from the GW Ax last Wednesday, “I am in fact from Hungary and our president is already János Áder.”

His statement is bold, but his reasoning is sound.

Not one to back away from a statement, Kovács went on to post to Facebook.

“Donald Trump is not my president,” adding, “Though as a Hungarian I hope he will work with János Áder, who is my president, to ensure a robust and healthy relationship between the United States and Hungary, which is where I live when not at school.”

In the time since he was originally quoted, Kovács’ uncompromising stance on President-elect Trump has inspired a trending hashtag on Twitter and Facebook, and even picked up as a rallying cry by anti-Trump demonstrators.

At press-time Kovács did confide his concern to the press that his statement was being taken out of context, but one thing is for sure though, our friend from Hungary has reserved his spot in the history of one of America’s, nay, the world’s, most controversial elections!
